Your Application Journey

Every application follows these stages. At each step, CME's KindHire system ensures you're informed and protected.

Applied

CME Sent

What Happens

Your CME is sent, your SmartMatch score is calculated, and one application slot is consumed. The employer is notified immediately.

Your Action

Wait for the employer to review. Your SmartMatch score is visible in your applications list.

Under Review

Under Review

What Happens

The employer has opened and viewed your application. CME's KindHire SLA clock starts, the employer has 48 hours to take action before receiving reminders.

Your Action

No action needed. The platform is monitoring on your behalf.

Shortlisted

Shortlisted

What Happens

You've made the short list. The employer's team may be voting on candidates or reviewing more closely. This is a strong signal of interest.

Your Action

Keep your profile updated. Be ready for an interview request.

Interview

Interview Scheduled

What Happens

The employer has scheduled an interview. You'll receive an email and in-app notification with the date, time, and format. Reminders are sent before the interview.

Your Action

Confirm your attendance. Show up on time. No-shows can result in trust score penalties.

Offer

Offer Extended

What Happens

The employer has extended a formal offer with employment details: salary, start date, working hours, and location. These details appear in your dashboard.

Your Action

Review the offer in your applications dashboard. You must Accept or Decline. If you decline, a reason is required; this helps improve the platform for everyone.

Hired

Hired

What Happens

You accepted the offer. A Bill 190 employment confirmation letter is automatically sent to you with all agreed terms. The job closes and your hiring journey is complete.

Your Action

Check your email for the formal employment confirmation. Prepare for your start date.

How Applications End

Every application reaches a clear outcome. CME never leaves you wondering.

Not Selected

The employer chose another candidate. You'll receive a KindHire email; every candidate on CME gets a response, never silence.

If the job gets filled, your application slot is returned to you so you can apply elsewhere within your allotted time. You won't lose a slot to a decision that was out of your hands.

Withdrawn

You withdrew your application. Your application slot is immediately refunded. The employer is notified and any scheduled interviews are cancelled.

Important: You cannot reapply to the same job after withdrawing. Make sure you want to withdraw before confirming.

Interviewed but not hired? You're still in demand.

If you reached the interview stage, your skills clearly stood out. The CME Talent Pool gives you 30 days of visibility to other employers hiring for similar roles, plus an optional retainer with the original employer. Both require your explicit consent.Learn more about the CME Talent Pool

Application Slot Refunds

Your application slots are valuable. CME refunds them when the outcome is beyond your control.

You Withdraw

Withdraw your application at any time and your slot is returned instantly. You cannot reapply to the same job.

Job Closed Without Hire

If the employer closes a job without making a hire, all candidates without a final decision get their slot back.

Job Auto-Closes (Day 45)

When the system auto-closes a job after its 45-day lifecycle, remaining candidates are refunded automatically.

When Slots Are NOT Refunded

  • You're hired (slot was used successfully)
  • Your application window expires (day 21 of your current billing period; unused slots don't carry over)
  • You no-show a scheduled interview (the employer committed time to you, accountability matters)

In all these cases, the employer reviewed your application and made a decision — your slot was used as intended.

KindHire Protects You

CME's KindHire system ensures no candidate is left behind. Here's what happens behind the scenes:

  • Employer nudged at 24h if your app is unreviewed
  • Second nudge at 48h with SMS reminder
  • SLA deadline: auto "still considering" sent to you
  • Employer trust score penalized for ghosting
  • Every application ends with a clear outcome
  • All communications archived for 3 years (Bill 190)

Stand Out with Boosts

Send a short video boost to show your personality and enthusiasm. Employers have 21 hours to respond.

  • Record a short video message for any active application
  • Employer receives email + SMS notification
  • 21-hour SLA — employer must view and respond
  • Non-response triggers trust penalty for employer
  • Boost slots limited by subscription tier
  • Purchase additional boosts via add-ons

SmartMatch Scoring

Every application is scored on a 100-point scale across 10 dimensions. Higher scores mean better alignment with the job.

90–100Exceptional match
70–89Strong match
50–69Moderate match
Below 50Weak match

Scores are informational — employers make all hiring decisions. A complete profile with CME Clip significantly improves your scores.

How SmartMatch works

Your Records Are Protected

Ontario's Bill 190 (Working for Workers Act) requires that hiring records be maintained. CME does this automatically for every application.

  • Every status change is timestamped and recorded
  • All employer communications are archived
  • Interview records and outcomes are preserved
  • Offer details (salary, hours, start date) are sealed
  • Archives are immutable, they cannot be altered
  • Records retained for 3 years after job close
  • You can request access to your records anytime

Frequently Asked Questions

What counts against my monthly application limit?

Each submitted application uses one slot. Drafts and saved jobs do not count. Refunded slots (from withdrawals or closed jobs) are returned and can be used again.

Can I reapply to a job after withdrawing?

No. Once you withdraw, you cannot reapply to the same position. This prevents gaming the system. Your slot is refunded so you can apply elsewhere.

What happens if an employer never responds to my application?

CME's KindHire system protects you. Employers are nudged at 24 and 48 hours. If they still don't act, the system auto-sends you a "still under consideration" message and the employer receives a trust score penalty. No application on CME goes unanswered.

How does my SmartMatch score affect my application?

SmartMatch scores help employers identify strong fits, but they don't make hiring decisions. A high score (80+) means your profile closely matches the job requirements. Employers see your score alongside your application. You can view your match breakdown in your dashboard (subscription tier dependent).

What is the CME Talent Pool?

If you interview for a job but aren't hired, you're invited to the CME Talent Pool for 30 days. Other employers hiring for similar roles can discover your profile and invite you to apply, all through the platform, never direct contact. You can also opt into a 30-day retainer with the original employer. Both are optional and require your explicit consent.

How do I accept or decline an offer?

When an offer is extended, you'll see Accept and Decline buttons in your applications dashboard and in the Application Detail modal. Accepting moves you to Hired and triggers the Bill 190 employment confirmation. Declining requires a reason (e.g., salary, location, accepted another offer); the employer can then revise and resend.

What if I need to withdraw after an interview is scheduled?

You can withdraw at any time. Your slot is refunded and the interview is automatically cancelled. The employer is notified. However, repeated last-minute cancellations may affect your trust score.

What is a video boost?

A boost is a short video message you send to stand out on an application. The employer has a 21-hour SLA to view and respond. Boost slots are limited by your subscription tier. If the employer doesn't respond, they receive a trust penalty.

Are my applications private?

Yes. Employers can only see your application to their own jobs. They cannot see where else you've applied. Your application history is private to you.

What records does CME keep about my applications?

Under Ontario's Bill 190, CME maintains a sealed compliance archive for every hiring process. This includes your application, all communications, interview records, and any offer details. Archives are immutable and retained for 3 years. You can request access to your records at any time.

Ready to find your next role?

Every application on CME is protected by KindHire. No ghosting. No silence. Just transparent hiring.
